Anthony Kiedis (born November 1, 1962) is an American musician and the lead singer of the Red Hot Chili Peppers. Raised in Grand Rapids, Michigan, Kiedis went on to study at UCLA, but dropped out after losing interest, partially because of his abuse of hard drugs. After dropping out, Kiedis had an offer to open for a friend's band, so he got together with friends Flea, Hillel Slovak, and Jack Irons and eventually formed the Red Hot Chili Peppers, for whom he writes almost all of the lyrics.
